COMPARISON // Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

I finally got my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in the shade fair to medium and I wanted to give you my thoughts on it, as well as comparing the shades to other contour powders, bronzers and highlighting powders that I own for shade and colour reference.

First I love the packaging of the ABH contour kit. I really enjoy that the pans can be taken out and purchased individually and I also think the kit itself has a great size. It's not too big so it's great to travel but not too small as to where you barely get any product for your $$$.

The beauty this entire post is about, is this one right here:

top row: Vanilla, Banana, Sand
bottom row: Java, Fawn, Havana

Before I get into comparing the shades from the kit with other bronzers or contour powders I have, here are some swatches of the ABH contour kit only!

f.l.t.r.: Vanilla, Banana, Sand, Java, Fawn, Havana

The first shade I want to compare is the Banana shade from the ABH contour kit. I personally only recommend banana shades for people with a bit more tanned skin rather than really fair because the yellowish shade won't highlight your undereyes if you are really fair but rather make it look yellow and weird. But, for all you ladies loving banana shades, I have the NYX HD Finishing Powder in the shade Banana to compare to the ABH Banana powder. As you can see, the NYX Banana is quite a lot lighter than the ABH one, on my fair skin the NYX one barely shows up when swatching, while the ABH does come off really yellow swatched.

The next one I am going to compare is the shade Java from the ABH contour kit with MAC Harmony Blush.

f.l.t.r.: MAC Harmony, ABH Java

You can see that MAC Harmony is a bit warmer than Java from ABH and I find Java to be quite a bit more pigmented (could be mine only, my Harmony is quite old now). I think Java is a nice bronzing shade for fair to medium skin tones.

Then I also compared the shade Havana in the ABH contour kit with the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer in #52.

f.l.t.r.: Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer #52, ABH Havana

Here again, the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer is a bit more warm toned than ABH Havana. Havana is definitely the most warm toned out of the entire contour kit though and I personally do not think I will ever really use this shade. It is indeed very warm if you look at it in the pan and quite dark as well for my quite fair skin tone.

I do not have any shade similar to Fawn in the ABH contour kit, so I decided to show you all the bronzing/contouring shade next to each other with a few different bronzers so you get an idea of what undertone they have and how light/dark each one is compared to the other.

f.l.t.r.: The Body Shop Honey Bronzer #02, Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer #52, MAC Harmony blush, NYX Taupe blush, ABH Java, ABH Fawn, ABH Havana

As you can see the NYX Taupe blush is by far the most cool toned out of all of them. Comparing it to Fawn from the ABH contour kit, it is a bit purple toned while Fawn is a bit more earthy and neutral in tone. Swatched it looks a bit similar to the Honey Bronzer from The Body Shop, but in real life, Fawn is a lot darker.

I find that the ABH contour kit is quite pigmented, they are really nice to blend and I am definitely excited to play around with it a bit more.
