New Make-Up Favourites // July 2019

I totally got into the habit of using the same exact make-up products, the same exact routine for probably over half a year now. So many new products came out and I wanted to give new make-up a shot, especially since my wedding is just around the corner, I tried perfecting my skills so I can look flawless for the entire wedding day.

I can honestly say that there were nearly no misses when it comes to all the products I recently tried out new, most of them were complete hits and worth every penny. So why not share them all with my community?

1. Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Brush Collection

What mostly inspired me to play more with different make-up recently were the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Brush Collection she came out with (I think last year?). I just now decided to order new brushes because I felt like I was lacking good and useful brushes so I splurged a bit.

I didn't want to buy the entire kit because I felt like there were a few brushes that I already know I'd never use and for around 180€ I didn't think it was worth it. Instead, I decided to buy the Complexion Kit (x) as well as the Eye Kit (x) and just add the other brushes I want separately.

 The Face Kit (f.l.t.r.: JH09, JH04, JH07, JH03, JH02)

The Eye Kit (f.l.t.r.: JH32, JH40, JH39, JH33, JH42, JH43, JH41, JH30)

If you don't want to buy an entire kit, all of her brushes can be bought individually. So the additional brushes I got were the JH01 Powder Brush (x) and the JH05 Contour Brush (x).

The single brushes that I bought separately (f.l.t.r.: JH01, JH05)

First of all let me tell you that these are the softest brushes I have ever felt in my life. Especially the JH01 is so fluffy and soft, I could touch it the entire day. Also it doesn't look as big in the photos on the Morphe website as it actually is.

All the brushes are high quality, I've been using them for around two weeks now and they don't shed at all. Again, the softness is amazing and they perform exactly how they are supposed to.

My special favourites are the JH30, it's a big fluffy eye brush that is perfect if you just want to quickly run one colour over your lid for a bit more dimension. Another is the JH42 which is THE PERFECT brush for inner corner highlight. I don't know what I ever did without this brush because hell, do I love a good inner corner highlight. The JH07 is a great brush for powdering the under eyes or wiping away the bake under your eyes (whatever method you prefer).

My favourite brushes from the entire collection (f.l.t.r.: JH30, JH42, JH07)

I'm so happy to announce that you can finally get Morphe products on Douglas. Even more exciting is the fact that they do have the Jaclyn x Morphe collections on their website as well for you to purchase the amazing eye-kit here and the complexion kit here.

2. Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder

It took me a long time to try this product because of the high price tag but it was worth it. I have quite dry skin and this powder doesn't emphasize dryness or looks cakey. I wouldn't recommend using it for setting under the eyes because I personally found it does crease very easily and doesn't quite set down concealer the way I want to. But it's flawless for setting the face. A little goes a long way and it looks beautiful the entire day. I like to either apply it with a big powder brush or use my beauty sponge to press the powder into my skin. Both ways I find work great.

You can now purchase Hourglass on Douglas or Niche-Beauty.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

This is a game changer. It can be used in so many different ways and they're all beautiful.

You can use it on its own just spread all over the face. It gives an incredibly glow to the face and comes in several different shades which give you just a tiny bit of coverage. It's perfect for those days where you don't want to wear make-up but still look healthy and even out your skin tone just a little bit.

My personal favourite way is to use it under a light layer of foundation so I have a bit more coverage but still get the incredible glow from the Hollywood Flawless Filter.

Another option is to directly mix it in with your foundation if you want even more glow (which this product shines brighter than a diamond already, js).

It definitely is not your typical glowy primer or cream, if you think MAC Strobe Cream you're completely off here. It's quite a thick and sticky texture but it sinks in quite quickly and doesn't end up leaving your face sticky for the rest of the day.

4. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand

This is another cream product that I tried out and fell in love with. It's absolutely not as intense and the Benefit "Cookie" highlighter that I mentioned before but for a cream highlighter, it shines good. For me it's not an everyday highlighter because like I said, I love to glow intensely, but for the days where I want minimal make-up and just look a bit more put together, it's beautiful.

It blends easy and the colour works great too. Again, the shade is not too pink nor too gold, it's a perfect in between shade that works for my fair skin as well as medium skin tones.

5. Benefit Cheekleader Mini Bronze Squad

I'm not going to lie, I bought this straight up for the highlighter shade "Cookie" that's exclusive to the new Benefit Cheekleader Palette. I heard Jaclyn Hill talk about it in her Insta Stories a while back and let me tell you, her cheekbones were glowing to the gods. You could see it from outer space. And if you know me, you know I effin' love a beaming highlighter. That shades definitely gives you exactly that.

I also love the colour of it because it's not pink but not gold either. It's a perfect mix right in between and even though I'm extremely fair, it still works with my skin tone but also looked gorgeous on Jaclyn's medium skin.

Overall the entire palette has grown on me now and works great for travel. The bronzer shade in there is their cult classic "Hoola" which I've loved for years and it also comes with their blush "Gold Rush". I personally don't use blush a lot but it's good to have in there. The palette is quite thin and compact so again, it works amazing for travel.

I could not find the palette for you anymore but you can now get this other amazing palette with Cookie highlighter and Hoola bronzer in it on Douglas

6. Kylie Cosmetics Ultra Glow "Santorini"

Another recommendation from the queen of highlight, Jaclyn Hill. She especially uses the shade "Fiji" but also loves "Santorini" as well, but since she uses fake tan, the darker shades works on her too. I'm pale as a ghost so I went with the lightest shade "Santorini" and I live for it. It's so intense, it's impossible one would ever go through the entire product unless you're bathing your entire body in it.

For sure you need to try the product out a bit to get a feel for the pigmentation and best way to apply it. But I can tell you that, don't pour it out into the cap and go straight in with a highlighter brush and put it on your face. You'll end up with a big chunk of highlighter on your face and that's not a cute look. I personally like to pour a tiny bit of product out and wiggle the cap around so the product spreads all over the cap in a thin layer. Then I go in with my fluffy highlighter brush, the JH09 and get just that little product on my brush and blend it onto my cheekbones. You might think that it's not enough product to even show up, but trust me when I say it does. It's more than enough.

It's just a tiny little bit hard to blend if you use too much product so be careful and like I said, play around with it a bit to find out how it works best for you.

7. Marc Jacobs Omega Glaze "Worth The Wait"

This I just bought on a whim because I saw Jamie Paige on Youtube buy it in her Sephora Haul I believe it was and it looked super pretty when she showed it so I decided to just give it a try since it's limited edition and we all know Marc Jacobs and their LE products.

Anyway, I bought it and it is indeed gorgeous. It's quite a unique colour because it looks more white but when you look really closely you can notice it's quite a bit of gold, yellow, green tones.. it's quite hard to describe and hard to capture but it looks pretty, trust me.

You can't always see that yellow, green shift in it, it's only noticeable if the light shines on it in the perfect angle, if it doesn't it mostly just looks white and slightly golden.

8. Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color "Bondi Bae"

If you read my blog consistently, you know that I'm not big on cream products because I just find them a little intimidating and hard to work with. Deep down I always wanted to get into creams, especially for summer they look amazing on other people so I decided to finally give them a fair chance.

I ended up really liking this one, especially for cream bronzer. A little definitely goes a long, long way but it blends out so effortlessly that it's nearly fool-proof. I think it can get a little too dark on my super fair skin but if I'm super careful with the amount I use, I can make it work.

Honestly, I'm still shocked at how easy and beautiful this product blends, I didn't expect a cream product to work so nicely. It also comes with a little stippling brush on the other side which makes it a great travel companion as well because you don't need to bring an extra brush for blending it out.

You can purchase it now on DouglasNiche-Beauty or LookFantastic.

9. Marc Jacobs Omega Bronze "Tan-Tastic"

I wanted this bronzer ever since it came out but it used to be limited edition and sold out super fast on all websites. Luckily Marc Jacobs brought it back this year (and I think it is actually now part of the permanent line) so of course I had to grab it.

The shade works amazing, it's right in the middle and should work for so many skin tones as well. It's definitely not for contour because it's got a bit of warmth to it but it's not orange either. I personally love that bronzer shade a lot and the product itself blends beautifully. It looks quite a bit light in the pan but it comes off a little darker once you apply it.

I think that's really it for all my newly found make-up favourites. Maybe you found a product you're interested in buying, so if you do, let me know what you thought of it. Also, if you have any other beauty recommendations, be sure to leave them down below in the comments for me.
